The Society holds 6 competitions each year. These include the Closeup, Parlour (also known as Standup), and Mentalism Competitions which focus on the three main disciplines of magic.
In addition, there is the Knockout Competition, renamed in 2023 in honour of a popular member of the Society who is no longer with us, Roger Borman, known as Dover Rog.
A new competition, open only to those who have not recenlty won another competion, was intruduced in 2023. This is named after one of the Society's founding Members, the famous Ali Bongo.
In December each year, the Society holds its Bunny Pull. This is a competition between two Members, one the previous year's winner, the other a challenger chosen by the Committee. It consists of five rounds, each with a theme chosen by the challenger. The winner of the of the most rounds is awarded the Bunny Pull Trophy.
Participation in competions is limited to Members and Associates. Attendance at competitions is open to non-members, although the Bunny Pull is restricted to immediate family of Members and special guests.
